AL-KO AKS 1300, 2004 & 3004 Stabiliser Spares & Parts

The AL-KO AKS is the stabilising coupling fitted to most British caravans, and the model number is stamped on the head: AKS 1300 for single-axle vans up to 1300kg, AKS 2004 and AKS 3004 for heavier and twin-axle vans, with the older AKS 2000, 2500 and 2700 still widely in use. Check that number before ordering, because the arms, handles and friction pads are not interchangeable across the range.

Friction pads are the wear part. They grip the towball to damp lateral movement, and when they glaze or wear thin the stabiliser stops doing its job — if your van has started to feel loose at motorway speed, the pads are the first thing to change. They are sold as a set and should always be replaced together. The side pads on a 3004 also have their own O-rings, available separately.

Beyond pads, this page carries replacement left and right arms, stabiliser handles, gaiters, soft docks and nose pieces, the AKS1300 assembly kit, overrun device assemblies, hitchlocks, security devices and barrel cylinders, and the extended-neck towball an AKS needs for correct articulation and clearance. Parts for the Winterhoff WS3000 and WS3500 stabilisers that AL-KO supply in the UK are here too.

Everything on this page is genuine AL-KO. If you cannot read the model number on your hitch, get in touch and describe the handle colour and shape.
